How do I block ads?

I want to block ads on YouTube vidoes or other embedded content on my WordPress website. How do I do that?

I know I have done this before somehow but I can’t seem to figure it out. The plugins seem to want me to unblock AdBlock instead.

I am not sure this is even possible. How did you do this before? Are you referring to ads on your videos (which you can control) or someone else’s?

There was a way in the past to prevent the YouTube suggested videos at the ends (which are not technically adds) with the ?rel=0 parameter on the URL, but apparently that end around does not work.

I do not remember how I did it, but I think it may have had to do with H5P.

Moodle also seems to block ads. There must be a way. I use videos from a variety of places.

I don’t think you can run ad blocking from the server level, that violates Youtube’s terms of service. I see nothing in Moodle or H5P docs that suggest you can do this. Most ad blockers work on the client end, they process what you see in the browser,
