US University - Title II - Domain of One's Own

Folks,

I wonder if folks at other campuses are negotiating the new / reemphasized requirements in the US for Title II (accessiblity) requirements.

Our university has belatedly begun investing a lot of energy into making all materials accessible. In some cases that has simply involved removing materials for which there are not readily available conversion/accessibility pathways.

How are other institutions with Domain of One’s own projects dealing with this? Presumably some student-generated materials are not fully compliant? Have you devleoped best practices? Is legal counsel advising these student and project sites are not needing to be scrutinized in the same way an institutions public facing main pages and instructional materials are?

We have a non-Reclaim blog service at our institution which I fear is going to be shut down. We’ve done some smaller, student-led Reclaim-domain projects. I fear we’d have trouble getting the green light on that today.
