After updating the JetPack plugin, my site (AssortedStuff | Tech – for teaching, learning, communicating) returns the message “Briefly unavailable for scheduled maintenance. Check back in a minute.”. It’s now been a lot longer than a minute.
I’ve seen this before and I know there’s a relatively easy fix but I can’t remember what it is. Any suggestions? I’m running version 4.9.8.
It’s up for me now but if it happens again the fix is to delete a file called .maintenance which gets created by WordPress when it is running updates. I’ve definitely seen it take longer than necessary and even get permanently stuck before and I’ve had to delete the file in those cases.
Thanks, Tim. Deleting the .maintenance file was the easy fix I couldn’t remember. I need to make a note somewhere for the next time.
