External domain, dns, email, and web routing

I have my domain taygeldon.com set up with Hover. I have email enabled through Hover as well using their mail/webmail addon thing.

How can I point web requests to my reclaim shared account where I have installed wordpress using the installer, without effecting mail?

I am familiar with editing dns records but not sure which ones to change in hover to accomplish this.

I just realized that it might be better to flip this around and use reclaim to manage my domain and point the right mx record or records back to hover.

I found their support page on doing that and have changed the nameservers to reclaim. However, when i attempt to add the mx record, I can’t match up Hover’s directions with the options when editing the records in cpanel here. Their instructions (https://help.hover.com/hc/en-us/articles/217281927-Buying-and-managing-your-email-accounts) say to use these settings:

Type: MX
Hostname: @
Priority: 10
Mail Server: mx.hover.com.cust.hostedemail.com
TTL 15 minutes (default)

But I cannot use an @ in the hostname when configuring the mx record in cpanel.

Hi Tay,

It might be better just to stick with the Hover name servers. You can repoint the A record to the IP of the server your account here at Reclaim is hosted on,

165.227.159.168

Let me know if you need anything else.
