Help with increasing Max upload file size iin WP

Hello, I’m new to using WP.com and this is the first time I’ve not had a site hosted through work so it’s all a bit scary.
The default max photo size is currently 150 MB and I can’t find the option to increase this. It should be under Settings but isn’t there WP settings menu|212x500
Please can anyone advise where to find it or how to increase the 150 MB limit?
I’m using the default Starlight theme in case that makes any difference.

Thanks for the response Tim, unfortunately, your response is too technical for me to understand :frowning: I thought there was a simple option to increase the 150 MB limit within the WP menus, am sure I did this with WP.org a few years ago.
